I would say 20 teams in open as I do not see Stover on this list.

Iowa ASA Code

Article 208

B. State Tournament Seeding.  The only teams seeded will be the defending champion and defending runner-up in open adult divisions (where teams do not qualify through District Tournaments) of play or in the highest classification in each Adult division of play.  this will include Men's A & B Slow Pitch, Women's B, C, & D Slow Pitch, Men's 16" and 14" Major Slow Pitch, Men's 35 & Over and 40 & Over Slow Pitch......

C. Draw Procedures. The district tournament shall be drawn as determined by the district commissioner.  State tournaments will be drawn by the State Commissioner or his designee.  Whenever possible, byes will be awarded to District Champions.  The byes will be awarded based on a random draw of the District Champions.  All tournaments shall be a blind draw.  Teams will be protected from playing a team from their own district for the first round of all state tournament.  All open state tournaments shall be strictly by a blind draw.  Teams are required to be available to play any time during the tournament.

Seriously, why is it taking so long to draw this thing? First they schedule it the same weekend as the city golf tournament, now they won't draw the dumb thing. What is wrong with people?

Tough draw for Tides, Niners, CJ's Oldtimer and Tailgators.

Best draw hands down:  Johnny and Mikes, Stover and New Way/Hurricane

Tough draw for a lot of teams CJ, not JUST the elite, since that's all you seem to be referring to...

CJ,
Let me get this straight.  You clearly think there is a top 5 tier of teams in the State...those being Stover, Niners, OT, CJ's, and Tides.  Because two of these teams MUST (there's no way around it) meet in the quarterfinals, you think CJ's and Tides have bad draws?  Seems cowardly to me.

IMO, the only teams saying anything about a draw should be OverTime, Niners, Tailgators, and anyone outside the "top ten".  Once you get to the quarterfinals in a 20 team tournament, you should expect to play someone good.

Already got it framed and posted in the locker room, Chad.  Wink  Not much of a drinker anymore in my old age so I may trade in a few of those beers for tenderloins!

No harm Bryce...I'm not a gambling man, but the odds are good that you'll be playing Niners...

not overlooking anyone.  there are several good teams.  and several potential 1st round upsets.  lines will be out next week.   JP is that better? Wink

Drew not scared at all.  Just first look at the bracket and my personal opinion.  I do not think there is a top 5.  I think Tailgators, Hurricane, Stadium can also beat anyone on any given day.  Other teams can get it done too.

Speaking of the induction ceremony does anybody know who all is getting inducted this year? I heard Rocky Woods from CR Hupp from back in the late 70s and 80s but that is all I have heard.

Congrats to all of them as they are all very deserving of this honor! And yes I can remember playing against all of them at one time or another.

Outfielders may want to bring some sort of floatation device. Maybe go buy the little orange arm ones. Or maybe just a life jacket will work.

Somebody better tell mother nature to turn the water spickett off asap.

On a good note. I just talked to the president of the little league and all teams have permission to hit on those fields. They are located on the other side of the football fields. Just a walk down the bike path. Lights will be on friday night for the later games, if teams want to use that.

Congrats to Tides on winning State. You guys played some great ball and earned it. Great team defense and great pitching by Kip. Congrats to Reemo for his MVP. The cost of that bat is now $500.  Thanks to Chad Weir, Kevin Cartier, Glen Barrett(concession), and the grounds crew and staff for doing an excellent job. Thanks to Bru and his posse for playing at the OldTimer Saturday night. You guys were awesome as well.

Sandman thank you for your compliments.  We also need to thank Bill Blanchard your tournament director.

Chris Beal, Nick Goodrich, Haig Ngotel, Bob Jacobson and the McKeevers for their work on the diamonds trying to keep them in the best shape possible after all the rain the week before.

Thanks to the fans who showed up.  Great crowds all weekend which is great to see.

Congrats to the HOF inductees and good to see many of the HOF members there as well.

Weekends like these are what make my job fun.

A great tournament with some incredible games played which is what you want.

Thanks again to the teams and fans for making the tournament a success!
