NCAA Pool
Mar 12th, 2010, 9:10am

Ok...I am running an NCAA pool with a twist.

Entry fee of $25.

**Note** – there is only room for 55 entries in this pool – so if you want in let me know ASAP – I will create a list (& confirm with a response as to your number on the list & where to mail entry fee)…once I hit 55 people the pool is full.  I will keep the list of people after I have 55 in case I get people who back out or if I get 110 people, in which case I will run a 2nd pool.  I expect spots to fill up quickly - so let me know ASAP if you are in.

It is essentially 2 pools in one.
1.       There will be your standard fill out the bracket (I will use ESPN for this)…fill out your bracket through the championship game – points awarded for correct picks – highest point total wins…I will not use the tiebreaker feature – if there is a tie – we will split the money.
2.       The second part of the pool will be what I call the “numbers” pool – this is where everyone gets a pair of numbers (0,0; 0,1; 0,2…9,7; 9,8; 9,9) – there are 55 pairs of numbers.  The way the numbers pool works:  you take the score at the end of regulation (not necessarily the final score) & take the last digit from each team’s score & that is the pair that wins for that game.  For example a final of 87-67 the pair 7,7 would win; a final of 71-65 the pair 5,1 (or 1,5 – however you want to look at it, but there will only be one pair with 5 & 1) would win; a final of 105-102 the pair 5,2 would win.  If the game goes to overtime the score at the end of regulation is your winning pair (so if the score is 68-68, then 8,8 is the winning pair).

Each entry fee ($25) will get you one bracket & one pair of numbers.  Once I have the list of 55 people – I will email out the link to the group & do the random drawing of the numbers & send that info out as well.

Payouts will be as follows (55 entrants x $25 = $1,375):

Numbers:
1st round (includes play in game): $5/game x 33 games = $165
2nd round: $5/game x 16 games = $80
3rd round (sweet 16 games): $10/game x 8 games = $80
4th round (elite 8 games): $15/game x 4 = $60
5th round (final 4 games): $20/game x 2 = $40
6th round (championship game): $50/game x 1 = $50

$165 + $80 + $80 + $60 + $40 + $50 = $475

That leaves $900 to be paid out to the “bracket” pool as follows:
1st - $400
2nd - $200
3rd - $150
4th - $100
5th - $50

Any questions - let me know.
