Bored V. II
Feb 18th, 2010, 2:10pm

What will happen first in 2010?

Reemo gets pissed at someone
Whitey "oversleeps" a morning game
Benny offends someone with his "special" brand of honesty
Someone from CJ's gets pissed at something Benny posts
Louie gets hit with a Mexican joke
Kranny gets hit with a short joke
CJ makes an absurd bet and then backpeddles on it almost immediately
One of the Kruses takes off their shirt at the ballpark
P-Nut raps to Bad Bad Leroy Brown
Kyle gets hurt...again
Healey gets on here and calls everyone a dork
Someone immediately comes on after and makes fun of Healey
Tailgators actually win a game

What bus?  Sorry, O'Keefe is an idiot and called a blind roll out to the weak side that caused his injury.  Otherwise we are going into Columbus with a perfect record.  We all know he is going to throw a pick for a touchdown every game but he always over comes it.  If people want Jake back they can have him.

AGREED!!!  Ken O'Keefe is garbage!  Much rather have Stanzi as the quarterback than Jake Christensen.  Stanzi has shown the ability to make things happen, good or bad.  All Christensen ever did was throw rocket passes at guys feet or sail balls over their heads.

Here's a question:  Will AJ Derby see the field in some aspect this fall?

I hope we dont. I think the only way we do would be because of injury somewhere. Save that year if we can.

What is wrong with Vandenberg?  I think we should give me a shot  before a freshman.  Iowa isn't known for letting freshman play right away.

Ken O'Keefe is garbage? Spoken like a true knowledgeable Iowan or Iowa fan.

Unfortunately, some Iowa fans are about as educated as NASCAR fans.....complete f***ing idiots who follow a shirt with a number on it.........

What is Ken O'Keefe's record as the OC of Iowa for the past 10 years???? Has he won bowl games???

And in that same 10 years, how many QB's and WR's has he had drafted in top, oh, 5 or so ROUNDS??? Dallas Clark is one of few if not the only one.

He has had some very talented OL, TE and RB's. But all that is a receipe for is a one-demsional offense.

So an average Joe (okay Ken) takes a basically one-demensional offense full of predominantly 2nd to 3rd tier recruits to top 10 finishes in 2 of the last 6 years and winning records since 2001 and he is "garbage"

I wish I could say I am suprised a Hawkeye fan is that stupid.

The strength of Iowa's football teams in the Ferentz era has always been on the OL & DL.  It makes it possible to win with "2nd and 3rd tier" recruits everywhere else if you can dominate in the trenches.

The majority of reason that Iowa's defense was so good last year was that their DL controlled the line of scrimmage against the run allowing Angerer, Eads, etc to run freely and make plays.  It also allowed Iowa to play zone a lot and thier safeties could move around and make plays, which they did often.

They also generate a tremendous pass rush with their front four which allows them to drop 6-7 into coverage and not have to blitz to create pressure on the opposing QB.  I think the front four all returning will allow a smoother transition for the 2 new LB's and new starting CB.

Their OL has always been a strength.  Iowa has always had decent to above average skill players, but that OL makes them look that much better when the QB has a lot of time to throw, receivers have extra time to get open and RB's have nice holes to run through.  This includes the TE position.  I'm pretty sure I read somewhere recently that every starting TE under Ferentz has been drafted and has played at least a couple of years in the NFL.  If that's true, that's a pretty good accomplishment.

All that being said, I think 2010 is the best chance in a long time for Iowa to win the Big 10 and be in the mix for a top 5 national finish.  Very few teams in the country returns what Iowa does.  That early game at Arizona scares me some, but if they get by that one...they have a chance to do some great things.

Hey Red,

Don't be dumb.  If you have watch any of the games in the past couple of years, you will figure out that our defense has aloud us to win games.  A premier running back and a strong offensive line.  Before you get on here and start running your pipes you better watch a game first.  Sorry but I can call the plays in the stands after 20 beers.

List of calls:

Double reverse against Texas
Shuffle pass against Michigan during our home winning streak.
Blind rollout with Stanzi.
The countless 3rd and 7 play action.
138 and 926 power's off tackle we run 18 times a game.

So the win this year vs Michigan State? How did our Defense do? Gave up a last minute TD.... and O'Keefe called some really crappy plays to win that game, right? I have other examples, there is always good with bad and vice versa.

It is a team sport....you should know all about failing to succeed as a team after last year.....so Iguess I'll defer to your expertise on those matters.

Iowa fans like you are the same kind that ran out Tom Davis. You just can't accept that pretty good is about as good as Iowa will EVER be in anything other than wrestling.

So have fun running O'Keffe out of town...I'm sure, knowing you as the typical Iowa fan, you'll b**ch about who they hire and why they didn't get this other guy who would assuredly lead Iowa to national titles......

I dont think anyone is gonna run O'Keefe out of town. Kirk Ferentz has always stuck by him and had his back so he must be doing something right. Personally i dont mind the guy yeah theres times i question what he is doing but overall i'm fine withe him. We dont rip off a lot of big plays and we won't don't give up many big plays I think its working fine

Sniper...perhaps Iowa doesn't have many "big plays"  because they only have guys that are "diamond fast" and not "race me" fast.  Perhaps if you could explain to the Iowa coaching the difference between the two, then they might have big play potential.

That's only 51 Offensive plays of over 20 yards out of 846 total plays this season!!!!  The Special Teams had 33 yards of over 20 yards.

Here's something else:

                      Iowa (11-2)      Alabama (14-0)     Iowa State (7-6)
Pts. per game-       23                       32.1                    20.5
Yards/game-        336.3                    403                     364.7
Yards/play-            5.2                      6.0                       4.9

Go Hawks! Ken is Garbage

Not that it matters, but it's 53.

Special teams should have several - every kickoff return should be 20+ yards.

I'm not saying it is a lot or a little.  I would be curious to know how it compares to our competition...& other teams.

I do find it funny that people like to act that there aren't 11 guys on defense trying the hardest to stop the Iowa plays (& without studying the numbers yet - i'd guess we played several good defenses this past year).

The Big 12 is a no defense league - that's why Iowa St's numbers are close to Iowa.

So, Spider Hawg......you are comparing the Hawkeyes to the National champions....who had the nations top offensive line, the heisman winning RB, and one of the top 10 WR's in the country.

Or....you are comparing them to ISU, who faced the equivlant of 11 guys sleeping (with exceptions of Iowa and Nebraska) on defense.

I hope you keep trying to win a numbers argument with the REAL Sniper....as he never loses those battles.....Never.

Not trying to win any battle.  My opinion is that Ken O'Queefe and is play calling are garbage!  For a number of years, Iowa's best offense has been it's defense!

There is a difference between calling a play as a player (like Peyton Manning) and a coach trusting what his player tells him about a match-up and says, "Okay, go with that."

In the end, it was O'Keefe's call to agree with what McNutt was telling him.

He listened....another garbage quality.

Spider Hawg, I am willing to bet a soda pop you play for some s****y ass CR team like Arrow Express or Star Bar.......

People adjust to Kody and Brokkhearts speed, they change there defense to adjust to those two when they come up to the plate not to many teams adjust to any of your guys paladin don't tell me you don't bring your third baseman in if Kody is up to the plate.  Don't think we play that much different depth when your speedsters come up.

Sniper - You're an idiot and like some on here, you back-peddle when you've made a stupid comment and have nothing else to say.  I'm not sad you moron, I'm disgusted by your stupidity.  And your comment about nobody caring - wrong again.

Reemo - Yep, we play up to take the bunt away from Kody.  I could care less where you play our guys.  You beat us 2 out of 3 times last year, so you were obviously doing something right.  Congrats!  As you stated previously, our fast guys are no contest against your cannon arms.  I doubt Zach will be racing anyone, he's put on 25 lbs since last summer.

Sniper - I will try not to respond to you directly going forward as I'm sure people have better things to do than read this crap.  First, the last time I looked this was a 16" softball website used to talk trash and debate the game.  I was in a conversation with Reemo and CJ and we were arguing over which team was faster.  Not a big deal.  People on here debate over which teams are better, more power, etc...no different.  That is what we do on here.  If you didn't care, then don't read the thread and keep your mouth shut.  You offered an opinion that there is a difference between being diamond fast and race me fast.  OK, my guys are both.  Now what?  You got something else or just "nobody cares"...I consider resorting to sarcasm as beck-peddling when you don't have an intelligent response.  Do you have something intelligent to add or just more "nobody cares", "whatever" or "yank, yank"?

And for the record, if your team plays us (that's assuming you even play) or even if you are wondering around and see us play, let me know after the game how many times you here, "he's real quick" or "get it in fast" or "watch the hit and run"...They say those things because they do care that we have some fast guys.  Just like playing the big 3 you better care that they have power.  Or playing Tides they have great arms Wink...

So as far as this nobody cares or diamond fast and race me fast, you talk about things you know nothing about.  That is why I think you're an idiot.  Let me know what team you play for so when we play you can demonstrate to my guys the difference between diamond fast and race me fast.  We'd appreciate the education.  And yes, that was sarcasm...except for the part about wanting to know which team you play for...

I think we, Arsenal, have the fastest guys over 250 lbs...we also have a couple speedsters in our outfield.

That fast man at CR districts needs to be changed to 250 lbs plus not 225 lbs.  You can't be a "fat man" at 225 lbs unless you are 4 ft 9 then you are a fire hydrant.
